Magyar Telekom acquires Dataplex

Budapest, April 7, 2006

Budapest – April 7, 2006 – Magyar Telekom (Reuters: NYSE: MTA.N, BÉT: MTEL.BU and Bloomberg: NYSE: MTA US, BÉT: MTELEKOM HB), the leading Hungarian telecommunications service provider, today announced that following approval by the Hungarian Competition Authority on April 5, 2006, it has closed the transaction to acquire Dataplex, a company operating in the Hungarian IT services market.

On December 13, 2005, Magyar Telekom concluded an agreement to buy a 100% stake in Dataplex Kft. for HUF 5.113 billion. Regulatory authority approval was necessary for the financial closing of the transaction. There has been no change in Dataplex’s management team and business operations as a result of the closure of the transaction.
