A better internet is good for all of us
IT companies and non-profit organizations joined their forces to raise awareness on the safer use and basic rules of the internet.
The Safer Internet Day – SID is organized on the same day in February each year in more than 100 countries of the world - including all 27 European Union member states, among them Hungary.
SID is part of the campaign with the objective to encourage responsible and safer use of online technologies. Within the frame of the European Union's Safer Internet Program action plan the experts raise awareness on the potential risks of the internet, like harassment, child pornography and other illegal and harmful content while inform children, parents, teachers and decision makers on actual problems and their potential remedies.
Recent years the focus was shifted from "more safe" to a "better" internet. Therefore this year the SID concentrates on our common responsibility: it is our job to make the internet a better place. In this effort we all have our roles and responsibilities: children, young people, parents, teachers, social workers, representatives of the industry, decision makers and politicians alike.
This is why SID chose the following slogan for 2014: "Let's create a better internet together!"
Each
year the Insafe network prepares a creative material, including the usual video
message and SID package designed for schools. The package can be downloaded
from the Safer Internet Day website (www.saferinternetday.org). This
years SID-spot is accessible here:
