Management announcement at Magyar Telekom

At its meeting on 1 December 2020, the Board of Directors of Magyar Telekom approved the extension of Tibor Rékasi’s contract as CEO of the company. Tibor Rékasi was appointed CEO as of July 2018 for a period of 3 years, now , well ahead of its expiry date, this contract will be extended by further 3 years, until June 30, 2024.
Dr. Robert Hauber, Chairman of the Board of Directors commented on the decision: “Tibor Rékasi has been doing an outstanding job since he has taken over the CEO role of Magyar Telekom in 2018. He has led the company on a continuous growth path and further strengthened the company’s leading position in all market segments in Hungary.”
Tibor Rékasi joined the Telekom Group 12 years ago first as Managing Director of IQSYS Zrt. and was CEO of T-Systems Hungary from 2013 to 2017, when he was appointed Chief Commercial Officer Residential Services at Magyar Telekom, he held this position until he became CEO of the Magyar Telekom Group in July 2018.
Since 2018 Magyar Telekom has strengthened its leading position as an integrated service operator and has a stable No1 position in the mobile, fixed and the TV segments. The company has extended its gigabit-capable fixed network adding more than 1.5 million access points since 2018. Earlier this year Magyar Telekom has launched its 5G commercial service that is already available in 28 settlements and embarked on a major modernization program for its 4G network. Besides the commercial achievements, Magyar Telekom puts a large emphasis on being an attractive employer (in 2020 Magyar Telekom won the Award for the Most Attractive Workplace in the telecommunication sector for the third time in a row) and on being a carbon neutral, sustainable company (Magyar Telekom is a member of the FTSE4Good Index and was assessed as being in the top 1% of the sector in terms of sustainability).
