FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that Magyar Telekom Telecommunications has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series. Created by the global index provider FTSE Russell, the FTSE4Good Index Series is designed to measure the performance of companies demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.
Since its introduction in 2016, Magyar Telekom has been part of the FTSE4Good Emerging Index, which measures the sustainability performance of companies of emerging countries, and currently encompasses 23 countries.
As part of the assessment, the company was assessed along a total of 105 indicators in 7 categories (anti-corruption, climate change, corporate governance, human rights & community, labor standards, environmental supply chain, social supply chain).
“The fact that we achieved such a great result by an assessment (based solely on professional aspects) in the UK, following the German ISS-Oekom evaluation, is a really positive reinforcement of our approach, further improving the perception of not only the company, but that of the whole country, too,” said Head of Magyar Telekom’s Sustainability Center, Katalin Szomolányi.
As a conclusion of the assessment, Magyar Telekom Group’s sustainability activity received 4.7 out of the maximal 5 points, which puts the company among the top 10% in comparison with its global peers.
