Magyar Telekom’s Sustainability Report won a special award at the Central-European finals of Deloitte’s Green Frog Award held in Warsaw. A total of 69 sustainability reports from five countries of the region competed, out of which 12 passed on to the regional stage, where Magyar Telekom’s Sustainability Report was chosen out of the five finalists to receive a special award.
Magyar Telekom Group’s Sustainability Report won a special award at the Central-European finals of Deloitte’s Green Frog Award held in Warsaw on April 12. CEMEX (Poland) came in first among the contestants of the region, and Orlen Group (Poland) won the “Best Integrated Report” category, which was introduced in 2018.
In November 2017, Magyar Telekom Group had already won Deloitte Hungary’s Green Frog Award that goes to the best corporate sustainability report, thus automatically qualifying the report for the Central-European Finals. At the Hungarian stage of the contest, the jury had assessed the contestants’ sustainability and CSR reports against a complex set of criteria.
Both the Hungarian and the international juries underlined that Magyar Telekom prepares detailed, comprehensive reports authenticated by external, third parties. They have also praised the Company for maintaining close relations with its stakeholders, and involving them in assessing the materiality of issues addressed, thus in the process of compiling the report. In addition to the user-friendly manner of information sharing and reporting, the international jury also considered it a strength of Magyar Telekom’s Sustainability Report that the Company focused on its contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
„This regional award recognizes the responsible conduct demonstrated by Magyar Telekom, which has already completed its third carbon-neutral year of operation. Due to its comprehensive, transparent and consistent nature, our Sustainability Report is considered a primary information source by responsible investor indices that wish to assess our company from sustainability aspects. Our achievements in the past years and the ratio of our shares held by responsible investors both show that we are on the right track,” said the Head of Magyar Telekom’s Corporate Sustainability Center, Katalin Szomolányi.
In 2017, Magyar Telekom was among the first to publish its Sustainability Report along the “Comprehensive”-level application of the GRI Standard. The Company was also among the first to include its contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals in its report. Since 2009, when the Company joined the initiative, the report also provides an annual status of the Company’s progress achieved along the principles laid down by the UN Global Compact.
