The Human Resource Ministry has announced the winners of the year-2015 Family-friendly Workplace Award. Magyar Telekom’s peer-mentoring plan aimed at parents of small children was selected to be among the winners, thus the company received the Family-friendly Workplace Award.

Out of 500 projects submitted, 6 companies were awarded in the Large Enterprise category. The purpose of the contest is to promote initiatives that aim to establish and develop family-friendly workplaces that support work-life balance and help employees to harmonize their duties at work and at home. The Telekom project awarded is the initiative titled “Mom2Mom – mommy, daddy peer-mentoring” The program aims to establish peer-mentoring opportunities based on the company’s existing mentoring system. The system helps employees in similar situations, i.e. being parents of small children, to seek support from each other. Parents who have returned to work at least half a year, but not more than 3 years ago mentor ones who consider returning or have just returned to work, and are preferably working for the same unit.

Chief HR Officer, Éva Somorjai commented on the award that „Magyar Telekom, as an employer committed to sustainability and equal opportunity considers it of primary importance to help employees who face difficulties due to some specific changes in their living conditions. In that spirit, we continuously work on initiatives that help our employees with small kids in returning to work, as they are important members of the diverse team that is a cornerstone of our success.”

Magyar Telekom’s responsible employer initiatives have been recognized in the form of several prizes in the past, the latest of which is the Disability-friendly Workplace Award. The company has also won the “Diverse Organization TOP10” title several times . At Aon Hewitt’s Best Employer Survey conducted in 2012 among Hungarian companies MT came in second in the Large Enterprise category. In November 2010, it won the HR Oscar founded by the Association of Hungarian Private Employment Agencies. In March of the same year, the company won the Golden Bridge Prize given to the HR Team of the Year.
