Dependencies on the 7th Sustainability Day
Budapest, September 22, 2014 16:30
In the increasingly complex system of offers of civilization there is an ever growing number of dependencies. Living beings, communities, states as well as organic and economic systems depend on each other and the more complex the system, the more prone it will be to losing balance and collapsing. The 7th Sustainability Day (FN7) on September 27 in the Millenaris Park will be all about dependencies.
We have comfortably settled down to a host of dependencies within the system we have created. Different dependent relationships offering amenities in the present, security in the present, gain in the present, become lack of comfort, exposure and helplessness in the more distant future. How then does this relationship nevertheless come into being, what feeds it and keeps it alive and is there any way out of it? And should we even look for a way out? Energy politician and banker, sociologist and writer, comedian and psychologist, toxicologist and film director – they will all probe into this for a whole day on the same stage, each of them in their own particular field, with their own particular skills, ideas and sense of humour.
As always, the host of the FN7 events will be Péter Novák. The program will open at noon with an inspiring lecture by Dr. Gábor Zaher senior physician and toxicologist, then there will be the usual interactive series of discussions in sections: this year the topics will be energy dependence, economic dependence and social dependency relationships. Attending the forums will be Ada Ámon, director of the Energy Club, Rita Galambos, strategic and development director of the Foundation for Democratic Youth, Richárd Hegyeshalmi, journalist of the Index website, Kristóf Horváth, alias Bob the Actor, Ágnes Kelemen, psychologist, associate of the Autonomy Foundation, Péter Küllői, among others founder of the Smile Foundation after a successful banking career and chairman of the Bátor Tábor (Camp for the Brave), József Péter Martin, the managing director in Hungary of Transparency International, Béla Munkácsy, teacher, environmental manager and doctor of geographic sciences, Györgyi Orosz, journalist, community builder and leader of the “Hősök tere” (Heroes’ Square) project, Flóra Pőcze, cultural anthropologist who became known for her book on the homeless people of Moszkva tér, Attila Prácser, one of the founders of Oszkár telekocsi (Oscar Car Pool), Gábor Rohonyi, film director, Csaba Szegedi, colourist and Annamária Tari, special clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, psychoanalyst. István Dombóvári’s stand-up minutes will provide a break from the serious contents.
The +1 section meeting in the afternoon will look back into the past and into the mirror of the present but most of all it will be about the future, our common future, which is interesting for all of us. It will be possible to listen and to ask questions, but also to send anonymous messages. Just like in a conference. There will be things to see and touch, it will be possible to observe alone in the semi-dark and to make new friends, bombard the exhibitorswith everyday questions and also taste this and that. And, in the evening, it will be possible to have fun. Just like in a festival.
At the party of the Smárton Trio, Halott Pénz (Dead Money), Anima Sound System and Irie Maffia DJ Set (Columbo, Mc Kemon, JumoDaddy) there will be just a short break when the awards will be presented to the winners of the competition for amateur creatives: dozens of exciting entries were received in the competition announced in late summer on the topic “What is your dependency?” Winners in each category will be given a Sony Xperia tablet donated by Telekom plus a personal insight into the work of creative agencies, in addition to which the winner of the audience prize among the entries exhibited on the spot will also receive a valuable prize.
The chief organiser of the 7th Sustainability Day is Telekom, its communication partner is the Fenntarthatósági Médiaklub (Sustainability Media Club) .
