Telekom, the main sponsor of VOLT festival organised on July 3-6 intends to make the festival program even more colourful through memorable experiences, worthy of sharing. Festival visitors are encouraged to bring their old phones and accessories to the event, as those will be recycled in the Telekom Robot VOLT Art Workshop. Numerous, highly appreciated Hungarian contemporary applied artists – including Zámbó István, Wahorn András, Sinkovics EdE, Soós Nóra, Győri Márton, Magyarósi Éva, Szabó Ottó and Tóth Márton – will create robotic pieces of art, involving the audience. Kinetic sculptures, paintings and different installations are expected to be created, including a structure made of the collected, old mobile phones of festival visitors, carrying the message of environmental consciousness. Batteries – being hazardous waste – will be collected separately. Creations will be put to charity auction by Telekom and VOLT in the autumn.
Organisers pay special attention to minimising the ecological footprint of VOLT – Telekom for example provides visitors with reusable „re-glasses” against a deposit fee. During its whole lifecycle, one re-glass can prevent the generation of one bag full of plastic cup waste.
In 2012 the magenta slide was a major success – this year it will also be built at the entrance of VOLT festival, providing the momentum necessary to get VOLT started. The Telekom Large Stage will feature the big shots of both Hungarian and international music arena. VOLT is an important milestone of the Ákos “2084” tour, but Quimby, Tankcsapda and Anna & The Barbies will also be staged. The romantic and melancholic British synthie pop duo, Hurts will be the peak performer among the exciting foreign performers, including Bullet for my Valentine playing punk rock, the Canadian Billy Talent, the legendary figure of nu metal Papa Roach, as well as Thirty Seconds To Mars known for their elementary stage shows. At the Large Stage electronic music fans will enjoy the French Martin Solveig playing easy, witty dance music, as well as Parov Stelar Band – considered as the inventor of electro swing – and Example, blending hip-hop with electronic.
Telekom Terrace will be the other central venue of VOLT, giving ground to electronic music. Bladerunnaz will delegate L.A.S., Chris.Su and Statik but Karányi, Zoohacker, the Tesco Disco and Kollektiva will also be here, while a whole evening will be devoted to Depeche Mode fans. In the daytime festival visitors are welcome in a lounge atmosphere, free mobile net and mobile chargers. Not only can one pay here for products with PayPass card, but also by sharing experiences. Those sharing their festival experiences with the Instragram application* will receive points, which can be redeemed for cocktails and festival articles.
Thanks to Telekom, the largest Hungarian telecommunication operator this year one can also experience the festival atmosphere without having to visit Sopron, as Telekom – in cooperation with Ustream – will stream numerous concerts, including Thirty Seconds to Mars, Hurts, Quimby, Papa Roach performing of the Large Stage. These concerts can be followed in HD quality using any mobile communication terminal on the Telekom website, and after the festival they will be available within the Telekom Interactive TV service.
VOLT visitors may find it worthwhile to download the VOLT 2013 application* which includes the whole festival program, news while the search and map features assist visitors in navigation. By setting the notification feature, fans will not miss any concert.
