T-Home Olympic successes: 50 thousand individual application launches, 28 thousand heartbeats were sent
Budapest, September 5, 2012 11:00
Services and options developed by T-Home for the period of Olympic Games achieved great results.
The special community application Fan Heart developed by innovation leader T-Home was especially popular among fans keeping track of Olympic Games. Fans amounting to the population of a city sent approximately 28 thousand heartbeats through page www.igazirajongok.hu to the members of the Hungarian Olympic team during the games in London. Before departing to London, T-Home presented special Fan Hearts to the athletes, which beat and flashed when fans sent a heartbeat to them – athletes always knew how many people think about them, and how often in the world.
Most people expressed their support for the Hungarian team using Internet on the opening day of the Games, 1500 people sent messages to the athletes on that day. Women were most active: they posted 70% of all messages to the site. Of all of them Budapest residents were most enthused: 43% of all heartbeats were sent from the capital city. They were followed by fans in Debrecen, Szeged, Miskolc and Pécs. Most fans sending messages (44 %) were between 25 and 44 years, however fans of 18 and 23 years and 55 plus tailed them close: 20-20% of them encouraged the Olympic team.
By the opening of the Olympic Games T-Home made its Interactive TV service available in the whole country, consequently the more than 280 thousand T-Home interactive subscriber base increased further. Additionally, due to technical developments more than 460 thousand T-Home subscribers could follow the Olympic broadcasts in HD quality.
Among the special Interactive TV functions, T-Home developed the London Interactive application – available at no extra charge – for sport fans wishing to follow the games. The application available during the Games – among others, by using the Archive TV function – was started from about 50 thousand set top boxes and customers clicked almost 80 thousand times on pages of the application. Point of interest: using the application enabling the unlimited repeats of the games within 72 hours, most people watched the Closing Ceremony, followed by the kayak-canoe finals, and finally there was a tie between our handball match won against Iceland and the water polo match lost to the Italians.
Offering the community experience of supporting the Hungarian team, T-Home opened the only official fan club during the games: the Telekom Olympic Fan Club in the City Park. Interest was huge, in the most popular open air fan club – directly built on the lake, offering a wide variety of food and beverages, concerts, salsa and funky nights – was frequented by more than 28 thousand people in 17 days, experiencing the feeling of community supporting offered by T-Home.
