Aon Hewitt – the business unit of Aon (NYSE:AON) rendering human resources services – in Sofia, Bulgaria in a festive event announced the Central-Eastern European winners of the Best Employer Survey. The survey reveals that correlation is strong between successful business results and highly committed employees. Magyar Telekom became one of the best employers in the region in the large company category.
The survey – carried out by Aon Hewitt since 2001 in Central-eastern Europe – awards outstanding companies that outdo their competitors in positively effecting business results by applying high level and efficient HR strategy. The research reviews indices effecting both the employees and employers, in order to offer a comprehensive and fair assessment.
In general, Best Employers awarded in the survey:
- Achieve better financial results, than average companies in the region (108% performance of the plans in terms of profit before tax, versus 93% characterising the rest of the companies)
- Lower fluctuation level (6% versus 9% characterising the other organisations)
- Lower absence rate (3.5 day/employee versus 5.5 of the other organisations)
„Magyar Telekom operates in one of the most exciting and most successful industries, setting new challenges for employees each day. We intend to make Magyar Telekom the company not only good to work for, but also enable our associates to demonstrate their capabilities. Members of our team are therefore authorised to carry out their work ever more independent by taking responsibility. We continue to do our utmost to make Magyar Telekom a loveable and liveable workplace, for the company to maintain its prestigious position among the most attractive employers of the country” – said Éva Somorjai, chief HR officer on the subject of receiving the international prize.
Magyar Telekom’s responsible employers efforts have already been appreciated several times, most recently this autumn when the company achieved the second position in Aon Hewitt’s 2012 survey of the Best Employer in Hungary in the large company category. In 2011 at the Second Chances Conference the company was awarded the „Versatile Organisation TOP10” title. In November 2010 the company received the HR Oscar prize founded by the Hungarian Association of HR Consultants. In March 2010 the company won the Golden Bridge award appreciating the HR Team of the Year. Following the Family Friendly Workplace award in 2008, Magyar Telekom also won the Best Employer title in 2009 based on the views of its associates, while in the summer of 2010 the company received the best Central-Eastern European Workplace award.
