Magyar Telekom Calling for Applications of NGOs in the Topic of Sustainable and Liveable City and Settlement
Budapest, April 20, 2012 13:00
Magyar Telekom is announcing a call for applications in the topic of ″Sustainable and Liveable City and Settlement” in order to support NGOs in their attitude forming programs. The programs to be selected in assessing applications will be the ones that contribute to disseminating sustainability principles to the broadest walks of the society and also help retain in the long run the values of society and environment. The Board of Trustees of Magyar Telekom’s ″hello tomorrow!” has earmarked a total of HUF 8 million for the purpose of the competition, so the minimum amount available in support of an initiative will be HUF 1 million.
Magyar Telekom intends to support with its call for applications in the topic of ″Sustainable and Liveable City and Settlement” the work of NGOs that provide with their innovative programs practical examples, organised from the grassroots, of how a city or a settlement can be made more liveable. Selected in the course of the assessment will be settlement programs that provide a long-term satisfaction of community, climatic protection and self supporting needs. The call for applications intends to contribute to having the concept of sustainable development known and popular, to making increasingly broader sections of the society aware of their medium-and long-term responsibility and to awakening in them the need to preserve social and environmental values. The intention of community formation is not concealed either, i.e. the promotion of the establishment of community building movements in the real and digital space that are able to function in the long run.
Applications will be welcome from public benefit and priority public benefit social organisations, foundations, associations and not-for-profit organisations registered and operating in Hungary that are directly involved in the implementation of the program. Public, minority, religious and political organisations may not take part in the competition. Application requirements include, among others, that the program concerned should realize its target through means that comply with innovation, a key brand value of Magyar Telekom. It would possibly use state-of-the arte info-communication tools and have a credible cost budget. An additional major criterion is the extent to which the program is topical, unique and innovative. No support can be extended to post-financing of programs having been implemented already. The Board of Trustees of ″hello tomorrow!” has earmarked a budget of HUF 8 million to support the program, which means that the minimum amount available for each initiative will be HUF 1 million. In compliance with Magyar Telekom’s transparent operation the organisations that win with their application shall be obliged to submit a report on the implementation of their program and to hand in an itemized financial statement on how the donated amount has been used.
The call for applications with the detailed conditions and the downloadable application form are available at the www.helloholnap.hu website. Applications are accepted until May 15, 2012, and their evaluation will take place by June 5, 2012. Applications received will be evaluated in two rounds. The Board of Trustees of Magyar Telekom’s ″Hello tomorrow!” will submit the pre-selected applications with the highest number of scores to the jury composed of members of the Sustainability Media Club. Results of the evaluation will be announced on the www.helloholnap.hu website. The company will also inform successful applicants electronically, in writing. Magyar Telekom will enter into a donation agreement with successful applicants, in which it will lay down the criteria of using the donation granted.
Magyar Telekom, Hungary’s leading info communication carrier - in alignment with its mission - is committed to the principle of sustainable development. With its ″hello tomorrow!” initiative launched in December 2010 it intends the concept of sustainability to become a part of everyday life in a manner that is meaningful and easy to accept and, at the same time, draw the attention that a liveable future is a collective responsibility of all of us.
The Board of Trustees of Magyar Telekom’s donations - the ″hello tomorrow” Board of Trustees - has revised on this occasion its practice of donations and system of calls for applications. Through calls for applications in special topics within the topic of sustainability it aims to draw the attention of the society to important issues the solution of which it considers to be possible through the cooperation of the corporate and civil spheres.
