With them, close to 100 interns work for the company in diverse areas.
Magyar Telekom - among the first ones in Hungary -
launched its internship program 15 years ago with the purpose of providing
students with useful, practical experience. The training is a good opportunity
for students to complete their mandatory internship and gain in-depth
theoretical and practical knowledge working for Hungary's leading
telecommunication provider, as well as start their careers at Magyar Telekom.
The program's success is shown by the fact that one thousand students had
applied to participate in the semester that started in February 2011, 50 of whom
were admitted. With them, close to 100 interns work for the company in diverse
areas. "Our goal is to inject fresh blood into the company. By applying our
mentoring system and offering frequent consultation opportunities, we can pay
special attention to students' personal development. I am proud that Magyar
Telekom is really a great place to perform and grow," said Magyar Telekom's
Chief Human Resources Officer, Éva Somorjai.
Applications to participate
in Magyar Telekom's internship program during the semester starting in September
2011 can be submitted through the karrier.telekom.hu homepage until April 15.
Applicants to the 5-month program must have active student status at Bachelor
(BSc, BA) or Master (MSc, MA) programs, as well as at least intermediate-level
English skills. The company concludes part-time, fixed-term employment contracts
with the interns, with 2 months probation. They are required to dedicate 20
hours per week to the program, and shall earn HUF 75 000 gross per month, with a
wide range of fringe benefits added upon completion of the probation period.
The first three weeks of the program are dedicated to preparing the
participants for substantial and meaningful work at their respective
organizational units. Afterwards, the interns shall work on specific,
project-like tasks in diverse areas of the company. Each intern is assigned a
mentor, who helps them to assimilate and provides regular feedback. By applying
this method, Magyar Telekom strives to share the complex knowledge and
experience it has accumulated as a major corporation with the students.
