Telekom Donation Line in March and April - for the children with nervous system injuries and premature babies
Budapest, March 2, 2011 14:00
In March and April 2011, those calling or sending SMS to the Telekom
Donation Line 1788, will contribute to the Gézengúz Foundation. As the country's
leading telecommunications provider, Magyar Telekom deems it important to
support the improvement of healthcare in Hungary and the development of services
in this area, including the healing of children.
In Hungary alone 7,000 premature babies are born in a year. After hospital
treatment they can find help at the Gézengúz Foundation, where skilled
professionals work using efficient therapy methods, also with the involvement of
the parents of these children.
The non-profit organization with a
history of over 20 years has set the target of providing complex diagnostic care
and therapy based on a holistic approach to children with nervous system
injuries and premature babies. The foundation uses the most advanced
achievements of medical sciences, psychology and pedagogy in their work. Each
family affected is attended to by a team of several professionals (children's
neurologist, radiologist, psychologist, remedial teacher, physiotherapist, hydro
therapist and nurse). Various treatments are administered for groups of children
or individually. The professionals at the Foundation also provide a complex
remedial development and day-care for children with multiple
injuries.
The Gézengúz Foundation has been offering help in the
recent years in cooperation with the available local health systems in several
parts of the country. The key target of the Foundation is to provide its
professional activity in parts of the country that are not provided for as yet.
Currently the Foundation extends high level health, psychological, pedagogic and
social help to thousands of families in Budapest-Békásmegyer, Budakalász, Győr
and Salgótarján. The Foundation secures the funds for its operations from
donations by companies and private individuals, sponsoring, offers and from
grants won through applications. Further information about the Foundation and
its activities is available at the
www.gezenguz.hu website.
The
Telekom Donation Line, also known for its slogan "1788 - the human line", has
been accessible for calls initiated from Magyar Telekom's fixed line and mobile
networks for the past eight years. The fee for a call or an SMS message is HUF
100 which is free of VAT (with the exception of calls initiated with Domino
top-up cards). The total amount collected as a result of the calls initiated
during March and April 2011 will go, as the callers' donation, to the Gézengúz
Foundation, where the money will serve the establishment of a new center to
enable the healing of 1,500 children a year.
