The complex telecommunication solutions provided by Telekom at the Szeged Canoe Sprint World Championship passed with flying colors. According to both the organizers and the journalists, the professional technical background contributed largely to the world championship's success.

"We are extremely proud of the Hungarian participants of the world championship, who demonstrated an outstanding performance", said Magyar Telekom's Chief Marketing Officer, István Király. "We are also happy that Telekom's telecommunications services and technical equipment were declared to be of excellent quality by both the domestic and international press, as well as the organizers."
Thanks to the extended capacity of the fiber technology provided by the company and the more than five months of work done by more than 50 professionals, working on the systems' delivery and running, the IT systems could fully cover the demand for fix and mobile voice and internet services throughout the days of the championship.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Telekom for its support throughout the world championship, which enabled participants, team members, journalists, organizers and fans to rely upon an extremely sophisticated IT background. The professionals representing the company had already done a great job in course of the months of preparation and implementation, and maintained the same dedication during the races, too. The experience further strengthened the close cooperation which has already been in place between Telekom and the Federation for years", said Secretary General of the Hungarian Canoe Federation and Chairman of the World Championship's Organizing Committee, Gábor Schmidt.
Preparing for potentially extreme levels of network use, Telekom installed, at the Maty-ér Sports Complex, equipment the capacity of which is capable to handle the network traffic of a small town. Despite the intensive PC and phone use on location, the traffic generated by the more than 40 000 spectators, 1 000 contenders and 420 accredited journalists took up only about 30 per cent of this capacity. During the five days of the MOL Canoe Sprint World Championship, approximately 400 000 SMS and MMS messages were sent, the total number of internet downloads reached 6.2 million, the incoming and outgoing internet traffic exceeded 1800 GB and the total time of phone calls initiated over the fix network was more than 330 hours. T-Home's Internet Camion, which provided large bandwidth, was very popular and used by an average of 100 participants and sports managers each day. Telekom supported the work of the Organizing Committee by 20 tablets and 8 notebooks.
