Budapest, April 6, 2011
Following several years of a mutually successful joint activities, Sziget Kft. and Magyar Telekom decided to intensify their cooperation. This time Telekom will be the main sponsor of VOLT and the company’s presence will also be stronger at the Heineken Balaton Sound.
This year Telekom will be the main sponsor of the VOLT Festival in Sopron, which according to the survey of Turizmus Rt. (Tourist Board) is the most widely known and popular countryside event in Hungary. The 18 years old VOLT festival reaches „adult age” this year and celebrates it by introducing novel programmes – organisers primarily concentrate on international stars and new music performances. „Both Magyar Telekom and we have the extremely important conviction that beside the classic names emphasis also needs to be put on introducing new, exciting performances” – said Norbert Lobenwein, the organiser of the event. In the frame of this year’s strong international programme, the Telekom Big Stage – among others – will feature Thirty Seconds to Mars, Moby, Sum 41, My Chemical Romance and Paul Kalkbrenner. As a special feature of the festival, VOLT joins the official closing event of the Hungarian Presidency of the European Union and on the first day under the European Gipsy Rocks! title well-known performers of numerous countries – including Emir Kusturica and the Asian Dub Foundation – will perform concerts.
At the Heineken Balaton Sound the site of the event – larger than earlier – will be named after Telekom. At the Telekom Terrace the stage will feature the very best of electronic dance music, including Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, John Digweed and Josh Wink. „For several years now the Telekom Terrace has been one of the most popular sites. I am convinced that this will be no different this year, either” – added organiser Zoltán Fülöp.
„The concept of both music event perfectly match our music sponsorship strategy, targeting youth. Through our interactive services we contribute to sharing experiences gathered at the festival” – pointed out Gabriella Liptay, head of the marketing communication department of Magyar Telekom.
Similar to former festivals, Telekom welcomes young people with spectacular local presence, establishing a „lounge”, offering interactive games as well as excellent audio and light techniques. The company strives for sending the most important messages of it’s sustainability movement „Hello Tomorrow” to visitors. Additionally, T-Mobile contributes comfort features through rendering mobile broadband service, while T-Home offers fixed line broadband service.
In addition, currently an innovative programme is being prepared by the mobile operators and service partners and – also available to T-Mobile customers - enabling festival goers to buy minute based tickets this year already for VOLT and Balaton Sound.
Each year, the two most popular and frequented countryside events of the Hungarian festival programme altogether attract 150-180 thousand visitors to Sopron and Zamárdi.
