Sustainability Day 3 at Magyar Telekom
Budapest, September 21, 2010 13:00
Magyar Telekom shall organize Sustainability Day for the third time, starting at noon on September 25, in cooperation with KultúrPart. The festival conference will take place at Millenáris in Budapest. Visitors will be invited to participate at discussions, presentations, as well as award ceremonies and concerts in the evening. This year, an especially disadvantaged region, Mezőcsát will also be linked into the event through the Jövő/menő program.
The event held at Millenáris Teátrum will kick off with a lecture by the cosmopolite professor, Günter Pauli, introducing
his latest book ("Blue economy"), which is to be published in Hungary during the days preceding the event. The book describes
one hundred innovations that can generate one hundred million jobs within a decade.
The opening will be followed by discussions along the three pillars of sustainability (society, economy and environment). Everyone is invited to actively join in at these discussions. The facilitator of the event will again be Péter Novák, whom the audience can turn to with questions or comments. In addition, esteemed professionals will be available to address issues of equal opportunity, consumption, climate change, individuals'responsibility or problems triggered by climate change. Those present will include for example Péter Juhász, on behalf of the Roma Program of Civil Liberties Union, academician Dr. István Láng, film director, Ferenc Moldoványi, psychologist Titanilla Fiáth and poet, Tamás Jónás.
The difficult-to-comprehend theory of sustainability will be made more tangible at the discussions and by an exhibition, where you can test drive cars running on alternative fuels, or try fair trade coffee and tea, organic syrup and recyclable cups, compost bins, a wind generator, solar collectors, and creative objects made from waste.
An especially disadvantaged region will be linked into the event through the Jövő/Menő program, thus, at the end of the program the beer collector, prepared with the involvement of the audience, will be handed over to the mayor of a settlement in the Mezőcsát region, Tiszadorogma.
As part of Sustainability Day 3, a contest has also been started where film, music and creative projects compete. On the basis of the evaluation by a professional jury, the best projects in the consumption, equal opportunity and climate change topics will receive prizes (iPhone 3Gs) and opportunities of further training provided by renowned professional workshops.
The traditional three-meter-diameter Earth Ball of Sustainability Day will again be exhibited at the event, as it has already been at several festivals this year (Sziget, VOLT, Kapolcs, Bánki Lake).
During the program, participants can "push the like button" of exhibitors and projects of Sustainability Day by handing out 3 stickers each, and the numbers of thus received votes will be announced at the end of the day, when the afterparty starts, where Besh-o-droM, Balkan Fanatik, Ági Szalóki and Rhythm& Sex will perform.
