Magyar Telekom was honored with an international innovation award
Budapest, June 18, 2010 12:00
Magyar Telekom's automatized service provisioning and activation
platform won this year's innovation award of the international
telecommunications magazine Global Telecoms Business. The system accelerates and
reduces the costs of introducing new services and lowers the costs of operation
as well. The award panel of the magazine selected from those projects of the
world's infocommunications service providers that successfully implemented
cutting edge technology solutions and are exemplary for peer
companies.
The prestigious international professional magazine, Global Telecoms Business, organized this year's innovation conference in London with the participation of almost 350 leaders of the world's leading telecommunications organizations where the Y2010 innovation awards were given to the best projects nominated from all over the world. Magyar Telekom's SPA (Service Provisioning Automation) - implemented in the second quarter of 2009 - won the award of the infrastructure service management innovation group within the fixed infrastructure innovation category.
István Maradi, Magyar Telekom's Chief Technology and IT Officer said: "the prestigious international award, won by Magyar Telekom's SPA platform, justifies that our strategic goals regarding the technical support systems are well defined. This is proven by the fact that we successfully meet new technological challenges and support the integration goals of the company with our systems . The quality of our developments and the professional knowledge of our experts is best characterized by the fact that both the SPA and the TSS - that was implemented within the frame of the same project to automatize fault clearance processes - received major professional acknowledgements both in Hungary and abroad."
The development of the SPA platform started in 2008. Within the frame of the project we implemented a unified, consolidated service management system built on Hewlett-Packard's Service Activator platform that was designed on the basis of the requirements of Magyar Telekom experts. The system automatically supports the service provisioning and activation processes, assists us to introduce new services in the market quicker and at lower costs while reduces implementation costs and with the automatization of processes it also reduces operation costs.
Magyar Telekom has been using the solution for a year in the service provisioning and activation process of new generation fixed IP services (broadband internet, IPTV). On top of that the system can support services provided with other technologies as well (mobile and cable TV networks) therefore we expect that the award winning SPA system will be rolled out to all networks of Magyar Telekom.
This was not the first time that the system was ranked among the best ones in
the international arena as Magyar Telekom's solution was selected to the six
best candidates from one hundred nominees in the "Excellence Award 2010"
category of Tele Management Forum's (TMF) Management World conference that was
organized this May in Niece.
