Magyar Telekom in the Auction for and on Behalf of Equal Opportunities

As an employer committed to equal opportunities Magyar Telekom participated for the third time in the Civil Auction initiative, in which not-for-profit organisations provide for auction their services promoting equal opportunities. In this year's auction Magyar Telekom contributes to civil initiatives by close to half million forint through purchasing a women's career program and a training program sensitizing people for the acceptance of disabled people.

Éva Somorjai, Chief Human Resources officer of Magyar Telekom said concerning the Civil Auction program: "We do increasingly more from one year to another in order to turn Telekom into an accommodating, lovable and attractive workplace, which our employees are satisfied with and is attractive in the labour market. Therefore we follow the principle of equal opportunity in our actions, and we teach our employees to do so as well. We believe that we walk the talk in this regard for other companies also by proving that only by thinking responsibly can we serve sustainable development."

"Have you tried it in the dark yet?" is the title of the interactive travel employees are invited to this week at Telekom's HQ building, which will demonstrate to them the world of the blind and vision impaired people. The company purchased the program in last year's Civil Auction from the "Szempont (Perspective) Foundation" for HUF 420 thousand.

This year also Magyar Telekom bid for programs that are closely tied to the firm's equal opportunity strategy. The company purchased the program titled "Sensitizing training, transfer of knowledge and skills for the acceptance of disabled people" of the Motivation Foundation Helping Physically Handicapped People and also managed to procure the "Program for Women's Smooth Upward Career" designed by the Career Foundation. All in all Magyar Telekom extended a support in the value of HUF 440 thousand to the two foundations.

Magyar Telekom's efforts as a responsible employer have already been honoured several times. In recognition of its professional, complex and exceedingly active engagement in the area of social responsibility the two-hundred strong HR area of the market leading company employing thousands of employees won in March the "Aranyhíd" (Golden Gate) Prize, which recognises the best HR team of the year.
