On June 26 MegaStars will start the Connection concert, which features international star Rod Stewart this year

Budapest, June 4, 2010

Rod Stewart, one of the most significant performers – with 250 million sold albums and singles, having 5 studio albums and having made it to the top of the Billboard magazine top 100 list – will have the lead role on June 26, at the 14th T-Mobile Connection concert. Before the popular British star enters the stage, the well known Hungarian MegaStars - Molnár Ferenc Caramel, Tóth Gabi, Gáspár Laci, Király Viktor and Oláh Ibolya – will sign the great hits of the previous, 13th Connection concert. Similarly to previous years, one of Europe’s largest music events will be free of charge again, thanks to the name sponsor T-Mobile, as well as the other sponsors: Sony Ericsson, TV2, Class FM, daily paper Metropol, Best magazine, Exit, Origo and Life Network.

The history of Connection concerts goes back to almost one and a half decades, having staged numerous international and Hungarian stars, who provided entertainment to hundreds of thousands each time. Performers at the concert represented various music styles, however – intentionally or not – the Connection concert is always viewed as a certain connecting point, within the international music arena. Rod Stewart and his song All for Love is an excellent example, which was chosen one of the best sings of the 80’ies and bears the special feature of being sung by 3 male superstars. Two of them - Sting and Bryan Adams – already performed earlier at the Connection concert, they will be now followed by Rod Stewart as well. Similarly to Elton John and Joe Cocker, who also were feature stars of the Connection concert, and with whom the British star also sang duets.

Before Rod Stewart enters the stage, the TV2 MegaStars - Molnár Ferenc Caramel and Oláh Ibolya publishing their new albums this year, Király Viktor having introduced his solo video clip early this year, as well as the highly popular Gáspár Laci and Tóth Gabi – will provide for the good atmosphere. At the 14th Connection concert the young Hungarian singers will perform the great hits of international stars who performed at concerts in previous years.

Grammy Award holder Rod Stewart introduced his new album in October, last year titled "Soulbook", which is a collection of classic soul hits of the 60’ies and 70’ies. With this album he returned to the routes of his music career, when he was lead singer of The Jeff Beck Band and The Faces – a band much appreciated by music critics, as well. The new disc features such soul classics like "If You Don't Know Me By Now" and "Higher and Higher". Rod Stewart brings many of his beloved and successful songs to Budapest, where – as a truly special feature of the convert – with regards to the football world cup (that will be ongoing by that time in South Africa) he will sing a few songs in the team shirt of the Celtic football team.

The T-Mobile Connection concert – similarly to previous years - will also be visited by music lovers coming both from Hungary and from outside the Hungarian borders. 300 of them – with gold or platinum level T-Home and T-Mobile subscriptions – can enjoy the concert with their partner as VIP guests, as a special opportunity within the Connection Programme. One can apply for the raffle by June 17, with simple registration at websites www.t-home.hu or www.t-mobile.hu.

Besides entertaining, organisers and sponsors also intend to support useful initiatives, e.g. providing room for the Hungarian Red Cross (organising blood donation) and the Hungarian National Blood Transfusion Service. Those wishing to help can donate blood can do so on site from 2 to 7 p.m., at two locations. T-Mobile, Sony Ericsson, TV2, Class FM, Metropol, Best, Exit, Origo and Life Network request everyone capable to help the work of the Red Cross by giving blood.
