F rom today T-Mobile subscribers can download the full fledged navigation program of Navigon select – that can be used in Hungary – on their iPhones. The Navigon select T-Mobile Edition navigation software package, with the latest map of Hungary produced by NAVTEQ – available in App Store – can be used and updated for 2 years free of charge, offering numerous comfort features.

The Navigon select T-Mobile Edition uses the integrated GPS receiver of the iPhone, assisting better orientation in Hungary. The program has numerous features, offering motor vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian navigation. Car drivers will appreciate navigation between lanes, graphically displaying motorway exits, as well as parking facilities nearby. Use of the Navigon program is made even easier by intelligent address search, the „Take me home” option, automatic switching between vertical and horizontal display format, and the automatic continuation of the navigation function after a completed call. Further comfort is offered to users, as Google search hits can be displayed on the screen, while weather forecasts between the starting point and the destination can also be prompted.

As a special T-Mobile offer, until June 30, 2011 the navigation application can be downloaded free of charge from App Store in Hungary onto iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS terminals (iOS 3 version and up). Following activation, the Navigon select T-Mobile Edition can be used and updated free of charge for 2 years. The program can be found in the Hungarian App Store under the name of Navigon select T-Mobile Edition. The size of file to be downloaded is 1.8 GB therefore firstly it has to be downloaded on a computer, and then it has to be installed on the phone using iTunes synchronizing. Similarly to other applications, this also requires App Store registration. Important: iPhone requires twice as much free memory than the size of the file to be installed. Obviously, after installation the non-used memory capacity is available again for other (e.g. music, movies, applications) contents.

The navigation functions of Navigon select do not generate data traffic by itself; however Internet connection is necessary for downloading and activating the software, while the application also double-checks the validity of the user’s license from time to time. Authentication only requires 2 kB data traffic.
