Change in the top position at Origo Zrt
Budapest, September 4, 2009 13:30
The employment of András Fischer, CEO of Origo Zrt - a 100% subsidiary of Magyar Telekom - is to be terminated by mutual agreement. His assignments will be taken over from September 5, 2009 by Acting CEO János Horváth, who has been working as director media portfolio management at Magyar Telekom's Alternative Businesses and Corporate Development business unit.
András Fischer joined T-Online Hungary in 2006 as director content services where he established the long-term business operations of content services by elaborating a strategy. Following T-Online's integration into the parent company, in October 2007 Fischer became the CEO of Origo Zrt, the content provider company of the Magyar Telekom Group.
Under his leadership the content services area underwent dynamic changes. The
market leader [origo] portal site was renewed twice and introduced a number of
new applications, just like its key portfolio services: [freemail] e-mailing
system, Videa video sharing and iWiW, the social site used by the vast majority
of Hungarian Internet users which has tripled its visitors during the past three
years. As a result of innovative contents and solutions (komment.hu, Női lapozó,
Cotcot etc.) and new business brands (Origo Adhouse and Adstudio), the [origo]
portfolio continues to be market leader both in terms of visitors and in online
advertising. Upon his initiative and under his direction Origo has prepared to
enter a new market by launching three-screen multi-platform television channels.
András Fischer has reinforced the position and prestige of Origo and the Magyar
Telekom Group through his memberships in a number of professional alliances.
As from September 5 the top executive tasks at Origo will be taken over by János Horváth for a specified period until the definitive filling of the CEO position.
János Horváth has worked with T-Online Hungary as Chief Sales Officer since 2006, later he headed the management of the subsidiary's marketing activities as well. He took an active part in developing Magyar Telekom's new organizational structure, integration of T-Online's access business line, and establishing the Alternative Businesses and Corporate Development business unit. Since January 2008 he has been director media portfolio management at the business unit. His responsibilities comprised the portfolio management of content provider subsidiaries, identification of existing strengths of those companies and exploitation of synergies. As the Acting CEO of Origo, he considers his primary goal the strengthening of market leadership position in online advertising.
