Pulitzer Prizes presented at the Headquarters of Magyar Telekom

Pulitzer Prizes recognizing the achievement of the best Hungarian journalists were presented on March 22 at the headquarters of Magyar Telekom. This year four journalists received the prestigious award. The prize sponsored exclusively by Magyar Telekom is a recognition for journalism of quality and for the value-oriented, ethical behavior of journalists.
The headquarters of Magyar Telekom hosted the ceremony organized for presentation of Hungarian journalism's most prestigious
prize. As the exclusive sponsor of Pulitzer Prize Foundation, Magyar Telekom helps the operation of the organization with
a total sum of HUF 21 million during three years from 2008.
At the ceremony Mihály Varga, Magyar Telekom Group Communications Director said: "Our experience shows that there is a major
demand for quality journalism even in a period when lighter, lower standard genres come to the fore in order to maintain circulation
figures. In the everyday news competition we must not forget that only quality and value will last in the area of journalism
as well. As market leading infocommunication service provider it is our duty to support every initiative which encourages
high standard press work."
The Hungarian prize was established in 1989 with the purpose of providing fitting recognition for the outstanding professional
achievements of journalists in Hungary.
