Telekom Donation Line to prevent drifting
Budapest, July 6, 2009 11:00
In July and August people calling the Telekom Donation Line at 1788 support the Periféria Foundation.
With the money collected on the Donation Line the Periféria Foundation wants to make the Suburban Study Circle Secondary School available to as many young people as possible.
The aim of the school is to help young people who are labeled as deviant or unmanageable and have been rejected by the traditional
education structure.
The leaders of the school, established in the early 1990s, realized that young people who are unable to fit into the state
education system, will not be able to study anywhere. This institution operates a system of personal mentorship.
The teachers who work here are convinced that the traditional school system is becoming increasingly alienated from the demands of our age. The Suburban Study Circle Secondary School has a track record of two decades of helping drifting young people to a successful career start.
The 100 HUF per call support is substantial for the secondary school as it enables them to help even more young people. With the publicity linked to this fund-raising campaign they want to draw society's attention to the important question of whether these young people are important for Hungary, or the society will give up on them just because they are a little different.
The Telekom Donation Line (1788) has been operating for seven years and can be called from both the wireline and the mobile network: both a call and an SMS cost 100 HUF. With the exception of calls initiated from a Domino subscription, the sum is free of VAT. The full proceeds from the calls received in the next two months will benefit the Periféria Foundation.
