Magyar Telekom renews main title sponsorship agreement with Domino Honvéd water polo team until 2010, that is for additional two championship seasons. The decision on continuation of cooperation with a successful history of almost ten years was published at the latest round of championship play-off, before the fifth game between Domino Honvéd and TEVA VasasPlaket.
Domino Honvéd (earlier called Domino BHSE) is one of the most
successful representatives of Hungarian water polo who played three
times in the Final Four of Euroleague, in 2004 won the tournament. The
cooperation and main title sponsorship agreement concluded in 1999 was
signed by Westel Ltd. the predecessor of T-Mobile with the Budapesti
Honvéd water polo team. Not much later the team won the Hungarian Cup,
then the Championship without having a single player being in the
national team. As a recognition of steadily improving results the main
sponsor enabled the club to sign eight Olympic champions and to start a
"Domino" team also in the women’s championship. The men’s team proved
with six national championship titles, two cup titles, international
and national Super Cup titles, while the women’s team rewarded in her
short career the trust with two championship and two cup titles and won
also LEN Cup. The club plays a leading role also in training youth
teams which are among the best in Hungary.
In the 2007-2008 season that will soon end both Domino Honvéd teams aim at winning gold medal.
