Budapest, September 19, 2007 12:00
Portfolio.hu, Hungary's leading stock market and investment portal site has completed its 2007 survey of the communication, credibility and transparency of the country's stock exchange companies. Based on the summary result of the survey carried out by stock market and investment experts, Magyar Telekom took the top position of the transparency list of the evaluated 19 companies, listed on the Budapest Stock Exchange.
This year's survey was carried out with the involvement of the
investment analysts and investment fund managers of 25 major Hungarian
and international financial institutions including banks, investment
banks and brokerage firms. The financial experts qualified the listed
companies in six categories. On the basis of the summary result of the
six categories, Magyar Telekom earned the absolute first place.
Of the six categories evaluated, Magyar Telekom won first place in three categories and second place in the remaining three.
In
the category "transparency of the company as a whole", Magyar Telekom
achieved the top ranking shared with another company (Állami Nyomda).
Magyar Telekom also won first place for the excellent quality of its quarterly earnings reports.
The analysts awarded Magyar Telekom a first place also for the best investor relations activities.
Since
the start of the stock market transparency surveys, Magyar Telekom has
finished in the top rank of the summary result list for the fourth time
already in 2007 (after 2000, 2002 and 2003), while in 2001, 2004 and
2005 it took the second place. This year Magyar Telekom recorded the
most significant improvement among Hungarian blue chip companies, as it
has climbed up six grades compared to 2006 to reach the top position.
According
to the survey's summary evaluation, "The excellent perception of Magyar
Telekom does not come as surprise in the light of its performance over
the past years, and the protracted legal investigation that caused a
significant setback for the company last year, has proved to be
transitory."
