The Cause - Magyar Telekom program on TV2 for causes which are important for all of us

Budapest, May 9, 2007 14:00

The series of documentaries presenting the work of non-profit foundations jointly produced by Magyar Telekom and TV2 entitled 'The Cause' will continue in May. After the series Magyar Telekom will distribute HUF 8 million donations among the foundations. The distribution of amounts will depend on the votes given by TV2 viewers (by phone or SMS). The foundation which receives the most votes will receive HUF 5 million, each of the other three participants in the documentary will be given HUF 1 million donation. Additionally the votes sent from Magyar Telekom's network will increase the amount of donations since each vote will add HUF 200 to the amount going to the foundation on which the viewer voted.

The documentaries will show real stories with players working on the solution of social problems: for the benefit of disadvantaged people and people in crisis, for the development of needy communities, etc.

Seeing its success in 2006, Magyar Telekom and TV2 decided on continuation of the series 'The Cause'. The work of the four foundations presented at that time was significantly helped by the viewers, Magyar Telekom and TV2. For example the Foundling Dog-Rescue Foundation can now save many more stray animals than earlier with the donations then received.

The new series of The Cause will be on air on TV2 from May 10, 2007 on Thursday nights.

The first documentary presents the Dogs for Humans Foundation that trains dogs used for treating children with physical or mental handicaps and asks for help for this activity because many more of these therapy animals are needed. One week later a documentary on the Errants in the Storm Foundation helping young people with addictions and drug problems. On May 24 we can have a look at the work of the Health with Music Foundation that seeks support for a music performance held with the participation of children needing special care. The last documentary on May 31 addresses the Bird Watch Association of Ócsa that requests help for reconstruction of its educational house that burnt down. The foundations shown in the documentaries were selected from the entries by an independent social panel.

TV viewers can help the devoted work of the foundations: they can decide through phone voting (making a call or sending an SMS) which foundation should receive what amounts from the donations offered by Magyar Telekom. The foundation which receives the most votes will receive HUF 5 million, each of the other three players in the documentary will be given HUF 1 million donation.

Votes given from the network of Magyar Telekom (T-Com, T-Mobile) cost HUF 200 VAT-free (calls from a line with a Domino prepaid package include 20% VAT). Magyar Telekom will transfer these amounts to the foundations on which the viewers voted. The documentaries will be produced by Andrea Kandász and the Kandi Production team. TV2 is the exclusive media partner of the charity documentary-reality show.
