Magyar Telekom supports young artists for a more attractive townscape

Magyar Telekom jointly announced a street-art competition with the Lát-Kép Association for young artists who were given the possibility to embellish four grey T-Com switching cabinets in Budapest with their art work. In the next few days the winning artists will begin their work which will be financed in full by Magyar Telekom. In view of the success of this competition, the organizers have announced a competition for the transformation of another two switching cabinets in Budapest.
The Lát-Kép Nonprofit Public Benefit Association and Magyar Telekom are
both committed to the improvement and embellishment of the Budapest
townscape. In addition to events like the annually organized Ray
Painting, Magyar Telekom has started to support another initiative to
bring color to the appearance of the city.
Magyar Telekom
jointly announced a competition with Lát-Kép Egyesület for
street-artists on the occasion of Earth Day to contribute to the
development of a cleaner and better arranged townscape. The competition
is intended to give an artistic appearance to the grey T-Com switching
cabinets found in many locations of the capital. Any technique, idea or
style could be used in the competition, the organizers did no wish to
limit the artistic freedom of the competitors. The only condition was
that the entrants should be young artists not yet known to the public.
The
jury of experts selected from the artworks received those of Zsuzsa
Trieb, Vince Énárt, Bálint Sági and Gábor Boross. Two switching
cabinets in Bem rakpart in Buda, one in Attila út and one in the city
center at Szabadság tér will be given a new appearance. The switching
cabinet at Szabadság tér will be repainted by the winner in the
presence of journalists, at the time of the press conference. The young
artists will each receive 15,000 forints to cover their costs and
50,000 forints as a fee. A special coating will protect their artworks
from grime and defacement.
