Budapest, January 19, 2006 13:30
Magyar Telekom is increasing to 6 Mbps the maximum download rate of its fastest ADSL package currently available with 4 Mbps bandwidth. As the next step of ADSL service development, Magyar Telekom plans to introduce and roll out nationwide the ADSL2 technology.
Magyar Telekom is increasing by 50% to 6 Mbps the maximum download rate
of its fastest ADSL package currently available with 4 Mbps bandwidth.
The current ADSL accesses operating at 4 Mbps bandwidth - used
primarily by business customers - will be migrated in the period
February 1 to 15. From February 15, 2006 through its internet service
provider partners, Magyar Telekom will offer the 6 Mbps package in its
service area where ADSL service is available.
In addition to ensuring the widest possible use of ADSL service, Magyar
Telekom pays great attention to satisfying the customers' needs at the
highest standard and to continuous development of the ADSL service.
Magyar Telekom has so far twice increased the maximum rate of ADSL
accesses free of charge - in November 2004 and May 2005. As a result,
the average bandwidth used by the customers exceeds 1 Mbps. Magyar
Telekom's objective with the current rate increase is to enhance the
value of service provided to business customers requiring high
bandwidth by maximally exploiting the possibilities inherent in the
ADSL technology.
As the next step of ADSL service development, Magyar Telekom plans to
introduce and roll out nationwide the ADSL2 technology. With this new
technology a new ADSL package can be created with a download rate that
will be almost twice the highest rate currently available.
