Christmas gift for children with leukemia from Magyar Telekom Group employees
Budapest, December 18, 2006 14:00
The employees of the Magyar Telekom Group have offered their Christmas gift money to the "Hope Public Benefit Foundation for Children With Leukemia."
For the first time this year the employees of the Magyar Telekom Group
decided through Internet voting to which of the eligible charitable
civil associations they would offer the 3 million HUF which the company
would have spent on Christmas gifts for its employees. In the vote 43
per cent of the several thousand employees opted in favor of the "Hope
Public Benefit Foundation for Children With Leukemia".
The "Hope
Public Benefit Foundation for Children With Leukemia" has been
operating since 1999 and it is currently the most significant
organization outside Budapest supporting the treatment of children with
cancer. The foundation, seated in Debrecen, has connections with all
the major medical institutions in the country which have wards for
treating children with cancer. Their activities focus on buying medical
equipment for the hospitals and giving financial assistance to the
families.
