The thematic blocks of the two-day international trade conference in
English set the target, on the basis of the European Commission’s i2010
initiative, to investigate into the technical, economic, legal,
regulatory, institutional and ethical aspects of closing the gap in
digitisation and innovation. The role of the use of broadband Internet
and the reasons for the low penetration rates will be discussed in a
separate block.
The conference will be opened by Professor Dr. Norbert Kroó, Vice
President (Natural Sciences) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and
Dr. György Csepeli, Political Secretary of State of the Ministry of
Informatics and Communications.
The recognised international scientists and specialists attending the
conference will analyse current and future trends in the consumption of
media and telecommunications services; they will review the situation
of research on infocommunications and of the industry in the region. We
can learn about the progress of information protection in the European
information society and about the scope of the i2010 programme of the
EU.
The participants will discuss the issue of the digital divide in the
countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the possible solutions for
overcoming it. We will deal in detail with the application of
infocommunications technology in the fields of education, government
and public administration, as well as in healthcare.
We can attend lectures on how innovations and investments could be
boosted in the field of research on infocommunications and what roles
are to be played by the universities and by the state in this key area.
The lecturers will also cover the issue of how R&D and innovation
could be managed at the enterprise level.
An exciting discussion can be expected regarding broadband technology
and its many perspectives. The participants will study the trends and
potentials in broadband technology in our region and will provide an
overview on the regulatory and competition law aspects of the broadband
development.
