Euro-based public payphone equipment from T-Com
Budapest, November 10, 2005 11:00
The public payphone equipment of T-Com, the first eight of which were put into operation this week at Ferihegy airport, accepts Euro coins as well. Simultaneously, the T-Com staff has started reconstruction of the telephone booths in the Budapest inner city.
Four telephone booths of this design were deployed at Ferihegy Airport
Terminal 1 and four at Terminal 2. Notices are displayed next to the
telephone set informing customers that Euros are also accepted by the
equipment. If this initiative is favorably received T-Com will roll out
the service nation-wide. In the first step the company plans to install
Euro-based public payphones in the areas frequented by tourists. In the
case of Euro payment the call charges are the same as the HUF prices.
Along with commissioning of the Euro-based public payphones, reconstruction of the public payphone booths has also started.
In the first step 58 telephone booths (with 111 terminal sets) will be
reconstructed in the inner city, along the Pest section of Nagykörút,
and new lighting will be installed in 7 locations. Reconstruction work
is expected to be completed by December 15, 2005.
