Today Matáv has officially changed its name to Magyar Telekom

The Company Court registered the name change of Matáv on May 6, 2005, so from today the full name of the company is Magyar Telekom Távközlési Részvénytársaság, the short name is Magyar Telekom Rt. Corporate identity change will also start today: the first T-Pont shops will be opened, Magyar Telekom is handing out nearly 80 000 pots of flowers in the busiest traffic junctions of 15 cities.

The Company Court today registered the name change of Matáv to Magyar Telekom. In addition, the Company Court also registered the new names of Axelero - the Internet subsidiary and MatávkábelTV - the cable television subsidiary of Matáv. The new name of Axelero is T-Online Magyarország Internet Szolgáltató Részvénytársaság, the short name is T-Online Magyarország Rt. The new company name of MatávkábelTV is T-Kábel Magyarország Kábeltelevíziós Szolgáltató Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság, its short name is T-Kábel Magyarország Kft.

The Group corporate identity change will be launched today, too, replacing the logos, colors and corporate identity carriers. Magyar Telekom wants to make this day memorable, so all over the country people will be presented with magenta-colored kalanchoe in pots decorated with the "T" logo. Magyar Telekom will distribute nearly 80 000 pots of flowers in the busiest traffic junctions (Kecskemét, Pécs, Miskolc, Székesfehérvár, Győr, Debrecen, Nyíregyháza, Szolnok, Szombathely, Kaposvár, Tatabánya, Zalaegerszeg, Szekszárd, Eger, Budapest).

Seven T-Pont shops of the Magyar Telekom retail outlet network will be opened today, too (in Budapest in the Mammut, Árkád and Duna Plaza shopping centers, in Székesfehérvár, Debrecen, Tatabánya and Békéscsaba) and a further 11 T-Pont shops will open nation-wide by June 8.
