Free internet for beginners - Matáv to cancel internet telephone charge for novice internet users for two months
Budapest, January 18, 2005 14:00
Between February 1 and March 31, 2005 Matáv will cancel the telephone charge of internet usage for those customers who do not yet have internet access in their homes. Matáv's goal is - besides expanding the broadband network - to attract as many new internet users as possible into the internet community. For this purpose the company has opened negotiations with its internet service provider partners about how they could relay the Matáv discount to their customers.
Matáv is committed to the development of the information society. Two
key tools of this are the expansion of broadband internet and the
continuous increase of the number of internet users, the "introduction"
of new users into the internet community. In 2005, besides expansion of
the broadband network, Matáv intends to pay special attention to the
novice internet users, so now with this new campaign it is trying to
make internet usage even more attractive for them.
Experience shows that the majority of internet users first access the
net via dial-up facilities. The Matáv discount is targeted expressly at
this group. The new offer is available without the need to apply to
every residential customer who did not dial the 06-51 internet access
number from his telephone line in the past six months.
During the campaign customers can try Matáv's Open internet service
free of charge, without any commitment. Matáv will also cancel the
telephone fee for new customers of the internet service providers
accessing the 06-51 number, and has requested the ISP to contribute to
the success of this initiative by offering discount packages and
supplementary offers to Matáv's own.
