The three dominant Hungarian telecommunications service providers in
cooperation with the Hungarian Red Cross are contributing to help for
the victims of the natural disaster in the Mátra region. Matáv, Pannon
GSM and T-Mobile have offered their 1749 helpline for collecting
donations. From 00.00 on April 27 to 24.00 on May 15 customers of the
three companies can donate HUF 200 by making a call or sending an SMS
from a mobile phone to the 1749 number. The total amount will be sent
to the needy.
The 1749 helpline was last used in January 2005 by the customers of the
telephone companies to give donations for helping the victims of the
earthquake and tsunami in Southeast Asia. They showed great generosity
by collecting more than HUF 100 million in one month.
