Over 50 million HUF support from Matáv Group to civil organizations - Free ADSL access to several hundreds of civil organizations
Budapest, December 18, 2004 13:45
More than 400 non-governmental organizations receive free ADSL access for one year under Matáv's corporate social responsibility program called "Matáv gives back". The non-governmental organizations were selected through applications managed by the Non-profit Information and Training Center (NIOK). The aid is worth almost HUF 130,000 for each organization, which means that Matáv Group is contributing more than HUF 50 million to the operation of non-governmental organizations.
In November 2004 Matáv invited applications with the involvement of
NIOK with the objective of developing the infrastructure of
non-governmental organizations and improving their communication
possibilities. Organizations not yet having an ADSL line could apply.
Matáv's aid helps the organizations to perform their tasks more
efficiently since with the broadband internet access they can perform
their activity at higher standard, publicize it to a wider scope of
people and have fast access to the information needed by the
organizations.
Winners were selected by NIOK experts from almost 700 non-governmental
organizations (foundations, associations) on the basis of thorough
analysis of the applications submitted. A wide range of organizations
are receiving the aid: from small local voluntary associations to large
foundations dealing with national problems. The aid is worth almost HUF
130,000 for each organization, which means that Matáv Group is
contributing more than HUF 50 million to the operation of
non-governmental organizations. The aid is expected to be provided to
the organizations before the end of this year since connection of lines
has already started.
