Matáv the first to sign network access contract with GTS-Datanet
Budapest, November 15, 2002
Matáv is the first of the largest service providers on the domestic Internet market to sign a network access agreement with GTS-Datanet Távközlési Kft. Within the new regulatory framework, the significance of this signature is further increased by the fact that the contract was concluded with the terms and conditions reviewed by Matáv and modified in favor of the Internet service providers. The contract regulates the conditions of cooperation between Internet service providers and Matáv.
Act XL of 2001 on Communications coming into force on December 23, 2001
as well as the related implementation decrees led to fundamental
changes in the regulation of telecommunication. The new statutory
provisions required significant changes in the contractual
relationships that had existed among market players prior to that date;
parallel to complying with these provisions, all service providers
tried to create the most favorable conditions for themselves. For this
reason, a contract harmonization process started from December 31,
2001. A few days ago Matáv reached an important milestone in this long
series of negotiations.
