HUF 3 million donated by Matáv to the MÁV Hospital
Budapest, November 5, 2002
As the next step in its charity donations, Matáv donated HUF 3 million to the "Dr. Tóth Zoltán" Neurophysiology Foundation working within the Neurosurgery Department of MÁV Hospital. Today, Head of Department Dr. Zerind Szabó received the symbolical check of the donation from Matáv's Chairman-CEO Elek Straub. The hospital will use the amount to buy equipment needed at micro-neurosurgical operations.
On behalf of the Foundation, Dr. Lóránd Erőss said after the ceremony:
"Matáv's generous donation enables us to purchase an item of equipment
that has long been planned and needed. This amount of HUF 3 million can
be used to buy bi-polar forceps used in micro-neurosurgical
interventions that will greatly facilitate the everyday work of the
Neurosurgical Department."
This is not the first time MÁV Hospital benefits from Matáv's support.
As Matáv's Chairman-CEO Elek Straub noted, in 2000 it had contributed
HUF 2 million to the procurement of equipment facilitating the
treatment of patients suffering from brain tumor or epilepsy. "We are
confident that our support will provide a significant help to the
successful work of the outstanding professionals at MÁV Hospital, and
enable them to purchase important equipment that is indispensable in
their everyday work and could not be obtained otherwise at present,"Mr.
Straub said.
Matáv focuses its donation activities on seven high-priority target
areas (medical treatment of cardio-vascular diseases, health promotion
programs, cure of communication problems, sport activities of the
disabled, cultural initiatives of disadvantaged villages, treatment of
children's health and social problems, support to phone-based crisis
counseling services); the volume of its charity donations has increased
from year to year reaching more than HUF 75 million in 2001.
