Agreement reached by Matáv and Novacom
Budapest, July 22, 2002
An interconnect agreement was signed by Matáv and Novacom today. Based on this agreement, Matáv and Novacom can start the interconnection of their networks, enabling their respective subscribers to reach each other.
The interconnect agreement between Matáv and Novacom is not yet one
prepared on the basis of Matáv’s Reference Interconnect Offer (MARIO)
as approved by the Telecommunications Arbitration Committee (HDB) on
July 18. After all, the MARIO approved (with some amendments) by the
HDB was only received by Matáv a few days ago. The temporary agreement
signed today is necessary in order to start the interconnection of the
Matáv and Novacom networks as soon as possible. The final agreement
complying with the MARIO approved by the HDB shall be concluded within
3 months.
Until now, Matáv has concluded similar temporary agreements with
Vivendi, PanTel, GTS and eTel. Naturally, final interconnect agreements
shall also be concluded with these companies within 3 months.
