Matáv and GTS signed an interconnection agreement
Budapest, December 10, 2002
GTS Datanet Távközlési Kft. was the first with which Matáv signed an interconnection agreement that fully complies with the reference interconnection offer approved by the Communications Arbitration Committee (MARIO). At the same time physical interconnection of the Matáv and GTS networks is under way to ensure that the customers of the two service providers can access each other.
The new agreement is an amendment of the interconnection agreement
concluded on a temporary basis on May 15. When the earlier temporary
agreement was concluded Matáv still did not have a reference
interconnection offer approved by the Communications Arbitration
Committee so the parties could use only its draft. Negotiations aiming
at amendment of the agreement could actually start after September 30
when the reference interconnection offer entered into force.
According to GTS-Datanet’s assessment, signature of the agreement was a
necessary first step to give customers a real choice on the market of
telecommunications services.
Matáv is negotiating the amendment or replacement of earlier network
and interconnection agreements with other service providers too in
accordance with the MARIO conditions. Several new interconnection
agreements are expected to be signed in the near future.
