In almost 200 localities 60% of the residents can use the Internet via broadband T-Mobile access
Budapest, July 11, 2008
T-Mobile offers broadband mobile Internet access to 60% of the residents of 193 localities through continuous upgrading of its 3G/HSDPA network.
The largest Hungarian mobile carrier offers broadband Internet service over a period of six months with 50% discount on the monthly fee subject to 1- or 2-year commitment and in July and August at least double the data volume that is included in the monthly fee. The service is now accessible for almost 6 million people. By the end of the year the carrier will cover more new localities with its broadband network than last year while focusing also on network capacity upgrading. Network usage is growing dynamically, over the last one-year period data volume increased sixteen-fold. It is equally important for T-Mobile to increase the number of localities covered and to ensure high quality of the network already in operation. Another requirement is to ensure that the network can be used in most places also indoors and that existing capacities be available. For this reason T-Mobile is continuously upgrading its network also at the localities already covered; this year 100 new 3G/HSDPA base stations will be brought into operation in the greater Budapest area alone.
