Exhibition guide on mobile phone in the Kunsthalle with T-Mobile
Budapest, April 14, 2008
Visitors to The Leipzig Phenomenon exhibition obtain a more comprehensive experience through the exhibition guide on mobile phone offered by the Kunsthalle (Műcsarnok) and its communication partner T-Mobile. The largest mobile carrier in Hungary wants to support appreciation of visual culture with innovative means through mobile phones, a device used by almost everybody.
The
latest exhibition in the Kunsthalle, The Leipzig Phenomenon, open until
May 18 presents the contemporary fine arts scene in Leipzig through
about 80 works of 15 artists. In contrast to the general etiquette
expected in museums, visitors to this exhibition should leave their
mobile phones switched on. Visitors entering the exhibition room can
dial 06 30 3030 260 to obtain further information in Hungarian or
English about the works exhibited through the dedicated system
developed by T-Mobile. Visitors can select the Virtual Exhibition Guide
menu item in the menu system following the themes of the exhibition to
obtain information (General Information, Memoir Section, Placebo
Section, Zoom Section, Bad Painting Section). However the system offers
even more. A Bluetooth connection can play a special mediator role to
go beyond the static framework of the exhibition and offer a visual
experience by sending a 3D interior picture or a given work of an
artist to the display of the mobile phone. Even the 3-minute-plus video
work of Tilo Baumgärtel entitled Megaphone shown in the Placebo Section
can be played and “taken away” with appropriately enabled mobile
phones.
The Exhibition Guide on mobile phone is accessible to
all customers of Hungarian mobile carriers, the information number
where the sections are presented can be called by any mobile subscriber
in Hungary for the relevant tariffs of their package, and from foreign
mobile phones with roaming tariffs. Reception of content via Bluetooth
is free of charge.
