T-Systems presents video conferencing system of the future at CeBIT
Budapest, March 20, 2007
At CeBIT, T-Systems will present TelePresence, a new video conferencing system that provides images and sound in a quality have never experienced before. Applying a broadband network and high-definition monitors, video conference participants appear true to life as if they were sitting together at the same table. T-Systems is the only company to present this technology at CeBIT.
What do you do when business is booming and new branch offices are springing up all over the Far East? International growth poses tremendous challenges to information technology and networks. Companies active in markets around the globe need high-speed connections. This gives them flexible access to data centers and applications, and at the same time they can make use of high-performance communications technology such as the video conferencing system.
The TelePresence 3000 solution by Cisco makes superior-quality virtual conferences possible. With no-delay image and sound transmission, participants have the feeling that they are together in the same room. The system comes in different options that have been designed for up to four, eight or twelve participants. It comes with 65-inch TFT displays. Conference participants can join live and appear life-size on the screen in HDTV quality. State-of-the-art cameras and a four-channel sound system create a natural conference atmosphere and provide excellent sound in CD quality.
Secure transmission via IP networks
The establishment of separate connections is obsolete with the new TelePresence solution. The video conferencing system uses a secure corporate network based on IP Protocol (IP-VPN), which companies are also increasingly using for IP telephony (VoIP) and data exchange. This also means no connection costs for internal corporate use.
The IP network guarantees constant availability of the necessary bandwidth for conferencing that is free of interruptions and secures transmission quality via the latest network technology (multi-protocol label switching). The solution also makes sure that voice and image data always receives priority over non-time-critical data traffic. The TelePresence solution automatically eliminates any possible errors. With all of this, conference participants barely notice the difference between their video conference and a real-life meeting. This is especially due to the fact that it is possible to use additional features such as shared use of software and documents and parallel data transfer for information exchange similar to an actual on-site meeting.
The corresponding software makes organizing a video conference as easy as making a phone call. It can be integrated into standard servers such as Microsoft Exchange and accesses the necessary address information from the available databases. Conference organizers can book rooms via Outlook and invite people to participate in a conference with no hassle. Conferences are initiated by simply pressing a button on an IP phone.
CeBIT visitors can experience the Cisco TelePresence system live at the Deutsche Telekom and T-Systems Briefing Center in Hall 26, Stand A1. Registration is required.
