Record attempt launched from Tivadar Puskás Telecom High School
Budapest, April 12, 2007
At 01.15 on April 13 a radio amateur connection will be established from Tivadar Puskás Telecom High School, that is financed by Magyar Telekom’s Foundation, with the second Hungarian space traveler Dr. Charles Simonyi.
In the attempt that is unique in Hungary six secondary school students (and earlier students) can ask one question each via the radio connection from the space traveler staying on board of the International Space Station. The secondary school years and studies of all the students who ask questions are in some form connected with Károly Simonyi, the father of Charles Simonyi, who wrote the book “Culture history of physics”. The event will be public for journalists subject to registration. From 20.00 on the same day the radio talk recorded at dawn will be played in the frame of lectures on space travel taking place in the lecture hall of Tivadar Puskás Telecom High School.
The record attempt at Friday dawn was preceded by another successful record attempt. From 00.55 to 01.05 on April 12 at least 20 radio amateurs communicating in Hungarian were talking with Charles Simonyi staying on board of the International Space Station.
