Magyar Telekom offers community site for disadvantaged groups
Budapest, November 6, 2006
As part of its Digital Bridge program, Magyar Telekom has launched a community site called ”With the Internet for Equal Opportunities (Egálnet)”. The community site, whose services are free of charge, is designed to promote relations between the organizations dealing with disadvantaged groups.
Magyar Telekom’s "Digital Bridge" program is designed to close the
information and communication gap between the different social groups,
communities and to prevent this gap from growing deeper. The
Egálnet community
site has been launched in the spirit of those objectives. In the
framework of this initiative Magyar Telekom offers free opportunity for
communities, interest groups in disadvantaged situation in terms of
communication facilities, to create and manage their own website.
The
target groups include such civil associations and also organizations
run by the local municipalities which aim to help disadvantaged persons
and communities. For example, small localities, schools, groups helping
young career starters, minority communities, people with disabilities,
retired persons’ clubs, organizations, etc.
This program enables
these help groups to create their own website and thus enhance their
digital footprint and intensify communication. Through the community
site they can also build relations with one another.
Those registered organizations that already have a home page, may also join this community.
