Lightevolution by the Danube
Budapest, December 19, 2006
This year Magyar Telekom has chosen a new location for its annual raypainting show. In the past years the colorful light paintings were projected on the facade of the Magyar Telekom Headquarters building, but this year the Budapest Március 15 square hosts the spectacular art show realized by Dóra Berkes .
The Lightevolution creation can be seen every evening from December 18 till January 1. You can enjoy the spectacle not only standing in Március 15 square itself, but also from the Elizabeth bridge, the Pest and the Buda quays, from the Szabadság bridge to the Várkert Casino building, the Hegyalja street and the Citadel. Hundreds of thousands of people cross these places daily, many-many more than those passing the Magyar Telekom Headquarters at Krisztina boulevard in the first district.
True to the tradition of the past years, the organizers are adding
color and diversity to these two weeks of the raypainting exhibition by
staging a number of music and cultural events as well. These programs
take place in the cafeteria inside the projection tower, where visitors
can arm themselves against the cold with mulled wine, hot chestnuts,
cakes and good music. In the evenings art performances will be held and
people can even party in the square on New Year’s Eve. When putting
together the program the organizers took into consideration the varied
interests of the visitors, so the menu includes everything from folk
music to classical tunes and the various DJ trends so that every age
group will find their favorites. This year animated children’s
programs, snowmen competitions and other entertainment programs are
also offered for the youngest visitors on a 10 square meter place
covered with snow.
Visitors can also have interesting photos taken
of themselves, if they don the light evolution costumes designed by
young fashion designers expressly for the raypainting show. They can
also send these photos as greeting cards to friends and family right
away or enroll them in the photo and video competition advertised on
the home page of the show. The same site offers an array of
downloadable panorama pictures and videos, the choice of which is being
continuously expanded during the exhibition.
The three computers
installed in the projection tower offer free wireless hotspot internet
access to the visitors, courtesy of Magyar Telekom.
