This year the Award for Budapest Economy established by the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry went to Magyar Telekom Rt.

The Chamber gives this prestigious award each year to those enterprises that play an important role in the economic and business life of Budapest and Hungary, and also participate in the chamber’s activities. The Chamber said in explanation of their decision: “The telecommunications company is playing a decisive role in the development of Hungary’s telecommunication systems and in the fulfillment of the infocommunication tasks of the capital and the country. It is a leader in mobile telephony, a flexible and successfully renewing market player that has retained its leading role and stands as an example with its corporate governance and business management. The predecessor of Magyar Telekom Rt. Matáv, as founder and committed member of the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry has consistently fulfilled its chamber duties and has been playing a significant and active role in the life of the chamber both in the past and today.”
