Magyar Telekom for Environment Protection
Budapest, May 31, 2005
European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association (ETNO) will be represented by Magyar Telekom at an environment protection meeting to be held in Brussels on June 2 during the EU’s Green Week.
European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association (ETNO) was
established in 1992 to promote cooperation among European network
operators, the development of European networks and to extend the scope
of services provided by network operators in the interests of the
users, and to represent the joint standpoint of the member companies in
other organizations, especially in the EU.
One of the ETNO projects aims at making the EU more aware of the fact
that environment protection is greatly facilitated by the use of
information and communications tools. Just think of the significant
carbon dioxide emission that can be avoided through a videoconference
where businessmen discuss things with each other while sitting in their
own office instead of flying or driving hundreds or even thousands of
kilometers. This ETNO project wants to call attention to such (and
similar) solutions; the project has been managed by Magyar Telekom
since 2002. Other project participants include British Telecom,
Deutsche Telekom and Telecom Italia.
