T-Kábel Magyarország Kft. enters the market of telephone services
Budapest, July 1, 2005
From July 1, 2005 those living in the servicing area of T-Kábel can also subscribe to telephone service, in addition to cable television and broadband internet services.
From mid-June T-Kábel Magyarország Kft. launched its cable telephone
service on a commercial test basis in Szeged, then from June 23
customers can subscribe to the service in Békéscsaba, Békés,
Hódmezővásárhely, Makó, and from June 27 also in Esztergom and
Dunakeszi.
The service is offered in the above localities to customers who can be
accessed on the so-called “backward channel” network, i.e. a network
made available for internet access. As a result, over 100 000
households can become cable telephone subscribers. Phone calls can be
initiated very simply, by connecting a cable modem provided by the
operator to an existing traditional terminal equipment.
The customers of T-Kábel can select from four different packages
depending on whether they have a cable television or Kábelnet
subscription. The cable telephone service offers free calls within the
cable network, no call setup fee is charged, minute fees are much more
favorable, and the monthly basic fee can be as low as 1240 HUF, which
can bring annual savings of up to 40 000 HUF for certain subscribers.
The new cable telephone subscribers can keep their old phone number and make phone call without prefix.
