Matáv receives the 2004 Mór Wahrmann Medal of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences

In recognition of Matáv's activity for the propagation of science in society and for the development of the knowledge-based society, the company received the 2004 Mór Wahrmann Medal of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. At the General Meeting of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences held today the Medal was presented in a special ceremony by Szilveszter E. Vizi, Chairman of the Academy to Matáv's representatives Elek Straub, Chairman-Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Tamás Pásztory, Chief Human Resources and Legal Officer and László Sallai, Training Director.

The Wahrmann Medal is one of the highest and oldest awards granted by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. This medal has been given since 1893 to persons and organizations making a particularly big contribution to science and its social recognition. Each year since 1899 the Academy has rewarded outstanding performance in the area of commerce and industry from the Mór Wahrmann Foundation. The Mór Wahrmann Medal is the second highest award granted by the Academy after the Gold Medal of the Academy that can be given only to academicians.
