Expanding DT services in the US

Budapest, March 19, 2004

Deutsche Telekom is extending its MPLS technology-based voice, video and data services also to its US customers, Konrad Reiss, member of the DT Board, announced at the press conference held before the opening of CeBIT.

T-Systems, a subsidiary of DT, provides the MPLS backbone network service jointly with the US company Level 3 Communications for US customers who wish to operate IP-based virtual private networks (VPNs). In this way the largest telco of Europe is using the MPLS not only to reduce its costs but to offer virtual private network services to an increasing extent.

At present, MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) is the most efficient technology for the creation of virtual private networks.

CeBIT, the exhibition of world IT novelties, was opened on 18 March in Hannover. One of the exhibitors at CeBIT is Deutsche Telekom represented by T-Com and T-Systems.
